The most recent schedule for all the fun events: Fall 2012 Schedule
The Zeiss Mark VI Star Projector affectionately named Fritz.
It was named after the engineer who installed it. There are only a few of these bad boys around, and CU Boulder has one!
Fritz is in charge of making the amazing lights that fill the dome with stunning, dancing colors during laser light shows.
After an amazing 37 years of service, Fritz is going to be retired and replaced with a new digital system.
Therefore, Fiske Planetarium will be closing December 2012. They will reopen in the fall of 2013. Please plan accordingly.
Fiske Planetarium opened in 1971 thanks to a generous donation from a 1917 CU alumnus, named, you guessed it, Fiske!
Recently we went to Laser Lady Gaga. I was surprised to see that there were only 20 – 25 people in attendance.
The auditorium seats 212 and back in the day, the place would sell out.
Also, I didn’t remember the music being that loud!
Fiske Planetarium is open:
- 8:30 to 4:30 on the weekdays
- Evenings and weekends for special events
- Friday nites for laser shows
- Thursdays nites for night sky discussions
